Abstract
Purpose-Venous stasis retinopathy is seen in patients with hypoxic injury to retinal tissues due to multivessel disease and vascular stenosis. We present a case of venous stasis retinopathy with idiopathic etiology having macular edema seen during pregnancy.Method-A 30 year old G2P1L1 female at 20 weeks gestation with no history of systemic disease presented with sudden, painless diminution of vision in righteye since 1 day.Anterior segment of both eyes normal.Fundus examination of righteye showed venous dilation, tortuosity, macular edema and neovasularisation.OCT showed macular edema.Previous pregnancy reported similar findings 3 months postpartum.Result-Patient responded to intravitreal Avastin to treat macular edema and its recurrence was treated with oral steroids and Ozurdex implant.Conclusion-Venous stasis retinopathy and recurrence of macular edema during pregnancy occuring without any systemic disease is a rare entity and must be evaluated and treated to prevent complications.
