Abstract
Purpose:Reporting a case of phthysical eye with huge filtration bleb following post-traumatic wound repair.
Methods:A 29-year-old female presented with swelling in LE for 4 yrs; gradually progressive, associated with mild pain. H/o trauma to left eye with bullhorn 6 years back; wound repair was done.Vision – RE: 6/6, PL negative in LE. O/E, phthysical LE with cystic swelling involving 2/3rds of bulbar conjunctiva. Transillumation positive. LE B-scan showed irregular cystic lesion causing globe compression, altered globe contour. A diagnosis of LE phthysical with huge filtration bleb s/p traumatic wound repair; nil visual potential made. LE evisceration with implant placement done.
Result: Following LE evisceration, a prosthetic eye was placed for cosmetic rehabilitation.
Conclusion: Admirable cosmetic outcomes achieved due to the prosthetic eye. The implant made adequate range of movements by the eyeball possible inspite of the chronic injury and deformed globe with filtration bleb.
