Abstract
Purpose/background: An orbital cavernous hemangioma is composed of large, ectatic, endothelium lined, blood filled spaces.
Methods: Data (Clinical features, computed tomography of orbit and histopathology report) from a patient with right eye proptosis diagnosed to have orbital cavernous haemangioma is presented.
Casereport A 51-year-old male patient presented with a painless, anterolaterally rapidly growing orbital proptosis of 30mm in the right eye over one month duration. Computed tomography reported an intraconal right orbital mass with mass effect causing proptosis consistent with cavernous malformation. A smooth, well defined, moderate density, tenderless mass measuring 2.5×3.0 cm. At surgery a red purple, well defined and cone shaped mass was removed. The histopathological evaluation of the mass revealed cavernous hemangioma.
Conclusion: Patient with a rapidly developing proptosis might have the possibility of orbital cavernous hemangioma
