Abstract

Objectives-
To understand the perspectives of major stakeholders towards comprehensive Eye health care.
Methodology-
It was a cross-sectional qualitative study. In-depth interviews and Focus group discussions were conducted.Stakeholders were patients visiting Eye Outpatient Department,healthcare providers and policy makers. Study tool was semi-structured interview guide. Analysis was done using thematic analysis in which the transcriptions. Ethical clearance and informed consent was obtained before conducting the study.
Results-A total of 15 patients attending Eye OPD were taken for in depth interviews (IDI) with 1 Focus group discussion(FGD). IDIs of 12 health care providers and 2 policymakers were also done with 1 FGD.Major themes came out to be lack of adequate number of ophthalmologists,over the counter supply of eye medications without prescription.
Conclusion- Increasing the number of Ophthalmologists and making them accessible to every needy person.
