Abstract

Cysticercosis is a parasitic infection caused by the larval form of the cestode, Taenia solium (T. solium), also known as a pork tapeworm. The subretinal space, vitreous cavity ,subconjunctival space, anterior chamber, recti muscles, lids, lacrimal gland, and lens are all probable encystment locations in the eye.
Case report
43 yr old female came with C/C of Something moving inside the left eye for 1 year.
No h/o ocular pain, flashes of lights.
no h/o Trauma, ocular surgery,seizures.
K/C/O Asthama on treatment.
BCVA in both eyes – 6/6 and N6
O/E Ant segment Cornea clear Pupil reacting to light
Fundus- Right eye -WNL
Translucent black partially mobile cyst in vitreous cavity of left eye.
B-scan USG- a well-defined cyst with a hyperechoic scolex.
CBC showed WBC count elevated with eosinophilic predominace.
Was treated surgically-Left eye Pars plana vitrectomy + cyst removal + Vitreous lavage under LA
Post operative steroid and antibiotic eye drops given recovery was uneventful.
