Abstract

Iris cysts are uncommon clinical presentations. Very rarely, primary epithelial cysts may dislodge and float freely in anterior chamber or in vitreous. A 26-year-old female patient presented with occasional difficulty in vision in her left eye due to some black spot, since last 8 months. There was no history of trauma or ocular surgery. On slit lamp examination, a small, pigmented brownish round-shaped cystic entity was noted in 6 o'clock position in anterior chamber. It was found to float freely on head-tilt and eye movement. Ultrasound biomicroscopy confirmed its cystic nature. Due to patient's significant visual problem affecting daily life, and risk of complications, the cyst was surgically removed by visco-extraction. Histopathological examination revealed a cyst with iris pigment epithelial lining. Hence, this case report shows a complete overview of clinical presentations, diagnosis and management of free-floating iris cyst in anterior chamber.
