Abstract
Flow capsulorhexis is a novel technique for performing safer and successful continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis (CCC) in white and hypermature cataracts. The advantage of ‘flow capsulorhexis’ is that the procedure is fast, needs minimal viscoelastic device, and can be done without the need for any additional instruments. The two-bend cystotome was attached to the infusion line of balanced salt solution (BSS) and the CCC was then performed with continuous inflow of BSS. The chamber stability is very well maintained, and the cortex is washed out using the continuous flow of fluid. This avoids unnecessary change of instruments and makes surgery faster. The technique is cost-effective, that even a syringe is not needed. The ‘flow capsulorhexis’ is easy to master and could be a boon for the surgeon as capsulorhexis is the most important factor determining the outcome in white cataracts.
