Abstract
A prospective clinical study
PURPOSE-To estimate the Thickness of the retinal nerve layer among OSA patients
METHOD-Total 32 patients clinically diagnosed as OSA patients referred from Pulmonology,ENT,Neurosurgery & General medicine departments for Ophthalmic evaluation.Out of 32 patients 2 patients were excluded as they are known Glaucoma patients on Treatment, remaining 30 patients has undergone SD OCT RNFL analysis.
RESULTS-Out of 32 patients of OSA, 65.6% were males 34.4% were females. In our study we noted that out of 30 patients,6 patients showed RNFL thinning in Superior and Inferior quadrants irrespective of the Severity of OSA and the remaining 24 patients having Normal RNFL.
CONCLUSION-Based on our study we observed that there is a positive correlation between the OSA and RNFL thickness but was not statistically significant as many other factors influence the RNFL thickness ,larger sample size is required to derive the exact correlation.
