Abstract
Aim : To evaluate the visual and IOP outcomes of combined cataract surgery and trabeculectomy in advanced glaucoma
Methods: 10 patients having advanced glaucoma with cataract had undergone cataract surgery and trabeculectomy. Preoperative IOP was uncotrolled with maximal mediacal therapy , BCVA , anterior segment, fundus evaluation was done.c.d ratio was 0.8 in 9 ,0.9 in one patient.Among10 patients 5 had undergone phacotrab, 5 sics trab.Postoperative IOP,visual acuity was noted at 1week ,1 month,6 months post surgery.
Results: IOP of all patients had reduced below 20 mm HG and results were consistent over 6 months. visual acuity improved in 60% patients with >6/18, 3 patients had cf 2mts,1 patient had cf cf due to glaucomatous optic atrophy. There were no intra op complications or postop complications. In all cases bleb morphology IOP was maintained
Conclusion: Combined cataract and trabeculectomy is a successful surgical approach for long term visual rehabilitation and IOP control
