Abstract
Purpose:Determine the safety & efficacy of AM-UC graft in Glaucoma shunt surgery for reducing glaucoma shunt tube exposure.
Method:Hospital based prospective interventional study.50 eyes of 50 patients with refractory glaucoma underwent glaucoma shunt surgery using Ahmed valve. Tubes were inserted in anterior chamber & pars plana & covered with AM-UC patch grafts. AS- OCT were used to asses the patch graft stability & host tissue integration with a focus on tube exposure, graft thinning & graft-related complication.
Result: The average age was 50 +/- 5 years & mean follow-up 24+/- 3 month.Tube exposure occurred in 1 eye (2%) at 3 months. Sequential AS-OCT showed excellent host tissue integration. Early graft thinning <3 month occurred in 6 eyes (12%) & late thinning occured in 2 eyes (4%). No evidence of graft rejection or infection.
Conclusion: Its high-tensile strength, low immunogenicity & excellent host- tissue integration offer good tectonic support in glaucoma shunt surgery.
