Abstract

In this video, we will be demonstrating a case of retinal detachment with giant retinal tear (GRT) of 360 degree. Our patient 6-year-old female presented to our centre with decreased vision in the right eye for 20 days. Past history revealed that she had trauma to both eyes with firecracker. The left eye had open globe injury and repair was done elsewhere and subsequently eye went into phthisis. In her right eye she underwent cataract surgery with IOL implantation for post traumatic cataract in the same hospital. Surgery was done on this patient right eye after discussing the visual prognosis. Advances in the viewing systems, instrumentation, and vitrectomy machines further make these complicated surgeries simple. Our understanding with vitreous substitutes has also evolved. We will be showing use of retinectomy, PFCL, PFCL-silicon oil exchange in this case. We were able to anatomically attach the retina and the patient attained functionally useful vision.
