Abstract
Aim:To investigate the comparative efficacy and safety of ocular surface independent minimally invasive glaucoma surgery(MIGS)-endocyclophotocoagulation(ECP) and ocular surface dependent Bent Ab-interno Needle Goniectomy (BANG) in mild-to-moderate POAG
Methods:Retrospective review of consecutive subjects with POAG> 30 years, who underwent ECP or BANG +/-phaco.
Primary outcome measure-IOP. Secondary-were BCVA, no.of AGM, complications, and complete success.
Results:21 eyes underwent ECP and BANG in 16 eyes. Follow-up in ECP was 8.5±4.7months in BANG 9.0±3.4months. months. Pre-operatively both groups were well matched. At final visit there was no difference between groups for IOP(p=1), AGM(p=.2187)and BCVA(p=.0784). No serious complication occurred in either group; there was no significant difference in the complete success between groups.
Conclusions:Both types of MIGS, are effective and safe procedures in controlling IOP with significant reduction in AGM in mild-to-moderate POAG.
